As of today, June 24, Central Park has gotten 8.52 inches of rainfall in the month of June alone! The record is 10.27 inches, set in June 2003. This is currently the sixth rainiest June ever, but with 6 days left, we could approach the record by month-end.....
Fortunately, last Friday night we had a brief break in the rain for Ariel and Ian's IHNY session. We enjoyed a stroll on the brand new Highline park in my neighborhood. It's been ten years in the making and I've been watching the progress since the start when I first moved into my studio. Needless to say, I've seen a ton of change in West Chelsea and this is certainly a "high point" in NYC's history. When you have the time, you gotta go check it out - or better yet, be one of the first to have your IHNY session on the Highline!
After the Highline, we headed back to the studio for a quick outfit change, hopped on the C train to DUMBO for an evening shoot overlooking the Manhattan skyline.
It was an awesome night featuring the best views NYC has to offer, new and old, I'll never tire of those views --- I ♥ NY! :)
Thanks again Ariel and Ian for a fun night, and I'm looking forward to a slightly different view at the Rosecliff mansion in Newport, RI when I shoot your wedding this fall!
Here's a few of my favorite pics, and a movie!

There's something special about the neighborhood that surrounds Capitale that I love. It's bordered by both Chinatown and the Bowery, two very distinct neighborhoods but both very integral to the fabric of the city. We wanted to make sure we captured the mood and feeling of those neighborhoods in Sari & Gil's portraits. Then, once inside Capitale, one could argue that there are few venues in the city with as much old school NY glam as Capitale.
....I'll let the video do the rest!:)

There were so many great shots I couldn't fit them all in, so I thought I'd share some of my favorite "PJ" shots.
It's been a crazy start to summer here at the studio! We've had some amazing weddings, IHNY sessions and awesome seminars. Last week, we participated in a project organized by Rob Nicholson called the Photog Shootout. Over 60 photographers from all over the country came and it was a blast.
That evening we went back to my studio for a demonstration of Qui-Keys, which was created by my good friends Dave and Quin from DQ Studios. When Rob and I were planning the evening after the shootout, I offered to do the demo myself, but when I emailed Dave he replied, "Hey, the family needs a vacation, how 'bout we come down and give the demo?"
I was thrilled to see my friends and get to meet their adorable kids Tobi and Levi. Of course, what would a trip to NYC with the family be like with out an IHNY session? Welcome to a very brief sneak peek into IHNY kids....... coming very soon!
Speaking of that. We're looking for a few awesome families to join the INHY kid portfolio. If you're interested please email me (jason @ jasongphoto.com), BUT, there are a few requirements:
1) you must be able to shoot on a Tuesday - Thursday, in the late afternoon.
2) Kids must be at least 3 years of age
3) you must be willing to work with me on a concept for the shoot. This is not a portrait sitting at Sears. :)
4) you allow me to use your images on the website, blog, facebook, etc.
You get in return:
1) A disc of all the images
2) The IHNY kids session, free of charge!
I look forward to hearing from interested parties - I think this summer will be filled with lots of fun shoot.
The weather forecast kept changing and we weren't sure what was in store for Sonia and Finley's IHNY session. We had everything planned...from the wardrobe, to the hair and makeup....the only thing out of our control was the weather. As our luck would have it, the forecast changed for the better and we had a gorgeous, HOT May afternoon.
Sonia had her hair and makeup done at the studio (thank you Khush and Mayra, the worlds greatest hair and makeup duo!), and then we hopped on the subway to Central Park for part one of our shoot. After heading back to the studio for a quick wardrobe change, we finished up with a sunset shoot on the roof of my building. How many photographers do you know that have access to such an awesome spot? (hint, hint) :)
You may also remember Sonia and Finley from back in December for their secret proposal. Thanks for an awesome day guys, looking forward to the wedding in a few months!
