I thought for sure we had done our last IHNY session of the year, but thankfully the unseasonably warm weather let us sneak out for one more. The city was SO quiet – believe it or not there was no line for ice cream at the shack shack! :)

Amanda + Sean have been favorite subjects of mine over the last few years, and this time we’re featuring them in my first ever — 1st anniversary session.  What’s that you ask?  Well, why does the picture taking have to end with the wedding?

We’re married!!  ….and we still heart NY! :)

I like to make all of my IHNY Sessions unique, and all about the couple I’m photographing.  When Lisa and Matthew asked if they could include their puppy Winifred (AKA Winnie) how could I say no?  Let’s just say she was ready for her close-up! LOL

Meet Winifred Churchill! :)

We also spent some time out at “5 Pointz” in Long Island City.  What an awesome location for pictures.  Can’t wait to share a few more from their session!

From the sunny skies of the Brooklyn Bridge to the canyons of Fifth Avenue, a couple of teasers from past IHNY sessions!  We’ve been all over the city this fall, with people from all over the world!  Why not remember your trip here to celebrate an anniversary with some amazing shots of you and NYC?!

Meet Anna and Lou – celebrating their 25th anniversary in NYC, all the way from Melbourne, Australia!

Meet Mala and Grant:

Their journey was only a cab ride away, but just as fabulous! :)

As Christine, Mike and I strolled up Broadway on Sunday evening I chatted with them about one of my first photography assignments in college (F.I.T.).  The assignment was to shoot the Flat Iron Building with a 4×5 camera, and make sure we got the perspective correct.  It was kind of a dull project, but I must admit, I always feel a bit nostalgic every time I stand in the spot we took the pic below.  I’ll have to dig that pic up one of these days, while the Flat Iron building remains the same (ever wonder why it’s called that? Click here), much of its surroundings are totally different.  Here’s a few teasers from their IHNY session!

I’ll admit I’m a sucker for everything New England. Someday when I retire I’d like to move to the rocky shores of Maine, and photograph lighthouses every morning. So whenever I have some extra time I try to hit up any lighthouses I can get to. Last week we were up in Nantucket to photograph Allyson and Kevin’s wedding (coming soon!) and had a few hours to kill before their rehearsal dinner, so off we went to Sankaty lighthouse.

As we pulled up I noticed a young couple sitting on one of the benches, followed by him leaning into his pocket, and gracefully getting down on one knee. Her hands immediately covered her mouth in excitement, and then thankfully hugs and kisses. :)  Trying not to interrupt we did our best to give them their privacy, but I felt compelled to get a photo of them! :) After ten minutes or so I casually approached them to see if I could grab a snap to send them, I mean after all, SOMEONE needed to get their picture! :)
After congratulating them, I introduced myself, and they were more than happy to let me grab a few shots. I gave them my card, and asked for permission to post their story. :) Wishing you guys the best!!

There’s nothing like Grand Central Station during rush hour!  As a tourist, it must be a frenzied sight, and as a commuter there are not many places in the world quite like it.  As a photographer though, it’s definitely a challenging place to take photos, especially at 5:30PM on a Thursday afternoon.  A NY business person is focused on one thing, MAKING THAT TRAIN, and you don’t want to get in their way! :)

We started Sara and Josh’s IHNY session there, and then hit some of their other favorite spots as well.  Make sure you scroll to the bottom for their FUsioN film!!

Sharon :( 06.29.2011 - 12:33 ) BOOM! Awesome shots as always, Jason.

It’s been H-O-T H-O-T H-O-T here in NYC!!!   Thankfully, we had a little breeze to cool us off for Roma + Samir’s IHNY session in Central Park.

Hopefully, we’ll get a little break from the heat for their upcoming wedding next month! Looking forward to 3 days of festivities just around the corner!
