We probably could have put these two in burlap sacks in the Brooklyn Navy Yards and they would have looked great. Meet Gaby and Sanford, a very chic Manhattan couple who are getting married in the Cayman Islands later this year. For every IHNY couple we put together an inspiration board with ideas for clothing, makeup and hair. Recently I’ve been using music to help inspire. For this particular session, the song “Ça plane pour moi (Everything’s going well for me)” by the Plastic Bertrand was the right fit. When we sent everything to Gaby and Sanford she told us they listened to the song over and over. Awesome!

We started the day in the Flatiron district of Manhattan then headed down to Chinatown for some bubble tea and street shooting. I haven’t really spent much time in Chinatown since I moved here so that was a lot of fun, and pretty funny when I asked the Chinese lingerie shop if Gaby and Sanford could change in their fitting rooms! Hey it worked. We then stopped for some DELICIOUS food at Barrio Chino, check out my post about that here. After probably too many margaritas later we did some shooting along Delancey, right before you get onto the Williamsburg Bridge. I love that area, it’s so New York City gritty. After a quick change into their leather jackets we ended the night with some pictures on their rooftop in Chelsea. 40 stories up gives you a pretty fantastic view. We even got invited into this guy’s apartment (I know sounds creepy but keep reading) who lived on the 39th floor and faced north, so he had some AMAZING views of the Empire State Building and practically all of the city. So jealous. – xoxo Karen

and for fun…
