I’ve lived in New York City for almost a year now. Knowing a good restaurant to go to in this city is actually really difficult. Yes you have so many options but that’s just it, you have SO many options. One of the best parts about shooting IHNY’s with our clients is the stop at the awesome restaurant at some point during the day. Sometimes Jason recommends something and sometimes the couple does. So this post is hopefully the beginning of many more like it, where I’ll highlight a restaurant or bar I tried out in the city. You gotta start somewhere.

Last Thursday we had a great day with Gaby and Sanford, a couple that actually met in Times Square, but more on them later this week. They took us to one of their favorite spots, Barrio Chino, in the Lower East Side. I was unaware it was a taco joint until we arrived and saw the handwritten margarita menu on a piece of cardboard. Sanford recommended the jalapeno margarita, I wasn’t brave enough but I did try some of his. Spicy!

Let me tell you something about myself, if I could live off of guacamole alone I totally would. Maybe I can who knows, but the guac at this spot was amazing. Perfect even.

We all shared an “antojitos” that had arrachera, cactus salad, guacamole, chorizo, queso fresco & black beans to make mini tacos from. I tried the Al Pastor tacos for my entree which was pork with pineapple, cilantro and onions. Barrio Chino is definitely a place to take friends visiting for a hip, but not obnoxious, delicious meal and margaritas!
